Knowledge & Resource Sharing Questionnaire Launch!
The Knowledge and Resource Sharing Questionnaire has been posted. It is being shared with NIMR Centres' data managers and data management ICT support staff to determine the data management unit capacity present at each NIMR Centre. This will help determine the best way to strengthen NIMR Centres' capacity through knowledge and resource sharing in the future.

Azure Cloud SQL Accounts
Hello All,
After extensive consultation with the Microsoft Team, it will take some time before NIMR gets cloud storage accounts due to the procedure involved. I would suggest we register one account and have multiple administrators from all the centres.
Registration requires a credit/master card card. However you are given one month free trial, after which you only pay for what you consume. The windows azure cloud comes with various services, since NIMR will be mostly utilizing the SQL database service, the maximum it could per month is 150 USD.
I would request Jonas and other Center's managers to have a discussion on this
Thanks

The beginnings of a NIMR Unified Data Management Strategy (UDMS)
Hello everyone,
So our last blog post attempted to initiate some
brainstorming around one of NIMR’s major action items to “establish a unified DM strategy as a long term goal”. We asked you what some of
the primary components of a DM strategy would be, based on lessons learned from
the 2013 KSS. Since then we have been
working to develop the outline of a UDMS with support from some experts.
We are sharing the outline here to get some
thoughts and feedback from you.
Also if you have interest in helping draft this
UDMS, please let us know.
Thanks!

A need to establish a unified DM strategy as a long term goal
Dear Data management
fellows
I hope you are doing
fine since we last communicated. It is now three months since our first KSS and
I believe now we have a lot to start blogging
One of the major
action and the way forward after the KSS was to “establish a unified DM strategy
as a long term goal”
I think if we can
start our conversation on this and come up with the draft document compiling
the list of primary components of data management in our centres we can then
look the possibilities to have a session during the AJSC next year to agree on
the primary components for DM which will stand for our institution.

Understanding of researchers about the importance of centralized data management system
Thank you
to all for attending the first NIMR Mwanza Knowledge Sharing Seminar (KSS).
It was
great to have you as a data management unit representative for your centre.
One of
the big challenges addressed during the seminar was about little understanding
of researchers about the importance of centralized data management system. What
are your opinions about the action to be taken on improving the situation in
our Centres and within institution in general?
